The guest sharing her five photos with me today on the blog is Pauline Barclay. Pauline is a familiar face to many, being not only a successful indie author, but also the name behind the Chill with a Book Awards – awards given to independently published novels after vetting from a group of readers who verify that it meets the strict criteria. Introductions over, I’ll hand you straight over to Pauline.

 

 

Hello Sharon, a huge thank you for inviting me to your Blog and allowing me to share five photos. Since I was around seven I have always had a camera so picking five photos from the thousands of photos I have was near impossible. In the end, I came up with these five, but even as I look at them, I wonder if I should have chosen different ones. *laugh*

Little Pauline!

This is me when I was very young. I’m old enough to have been in black and white!

Roller blading triumph

This is of us finishing a roller blade marathon in Reigate Park, UK. We love roller blading and have skated in a number of countries. We enjoyed the thrill of blading through Paris on a Friday night skate that was organised most Friday night’s in the summer months a few years ago. We skated in the Leiden marathon (Holland). We took part in a 20k event on Lanzarote and have taken part in many events. We have also skated along the river Charles in Boston, USA and hundreds if not thousands of kilometres through towns, cities and around the beautiful bulb fields when we lived in The Netherlands.

Pauline as Zwarte Piet

I know I am unrecognisable in this pic. For most children in The Netherlands, the most important day during December is 5th December, when Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas) brings them their presents! St. Nicholas’ Day is on the 6th December, but in The Netherlands, the major celebrations are held on the 5th December, St. Nicholas’ Eve. Sinterklaas is assisted by many mischievous helpers with black faces and colourful Moorish dresses. These companions are called Zwarte Piet and one year I offered to be a Zwarte Piet in the office. This was when we lived in The Netherlands. Right to left: Sinterklass, Mr PB, Me and another Zwarte Piet.

Poppy & Barney

I love this picture, but it is also very sad to look at. These two little scamps are our rescue doggies. Sadly we lost our Poppy (left) last year. We missed her every single day and I still can’t believe she has gone. Barney misses her too.

This final pic is one taken this summer during our early morning 8km walk before breakfast which we do every day of the week. “Family Barclay.”

My passion is to write about events that happen in life and change everything for those involved as well as those caught up in the maelstrom. I want my characters to sit at your side, steal your attention and sweep you up in their story. Stories that will bring tears to your eyes, have you laughing out loud and sometimes, what they share with you will stay in your hearts for a very long time.

I am from Yorkshire, UK, but have lived in several different locations including; Suffolk, UK, Surrey, UK and Holland.  Today, I live on one of the beautiful volcanic islands of the Canary Isles with my husband and our gorgeous rescue doggie.

Years ago I gained a BA (Hons) degree from the Open University, today I spend my time writing fiction. I have six books published, plus a 20 minute short festive story. I am now busy working on book seven. When not writing I love to run, walk, cook, read, take lots of photographs, play around with my Photoshop and spend time with my family and friends.
