My guest today is author Morton S Gray. Morton won the Search For a Star competition, run by publisher Choc Lit, and has since had two novels published by them. She has kindly agreed to share her Five Photos with us. I’m particularly smitten with her little dog!

My all-time favourite photograph from the family album. This is a picture of my great-grandmother and her sister. I wonder what they would have thought about this view being preserved for posterity? Maybe a cautionary warning for modern day photographers? I still love it though.

This is a photograph of me on the lawn at my childhood home, being watched over by my dad. I think it is one of the most natural photos of me in the family albums.

Another favourite picture, this time of my dad showing my son the controls of his electric wheelchair. Dad suffered with MS in his later years and the wheelchair allowed him the freedom to zoom around the local town. Dad died shortly after this photo was taken.

This is our first picture of Lily, our little Maltese. She is four weeks old on this picture. Once we had met her, we were all besotted by the little white bundle and we still are over three years later! Why did I buy a white dog with short legs?

The display from a recent talk I did in a coffee shop made me realise how far I have come since I first decided to have a go at writing novels. My debut The Girl on the Beach was published by Choc Lit after I won their Search for a Star competition, my second, The Truth Lies Buried came out in May 2018. I am just doing publisher edits for my third and finishing off my fourth to send to them. A clear message that it is never too late – you can achieve your dreams.

Morton lives with her husband, two sons and Lily, the tiny white dog, in Worcestershire, U.K. She has been reading and writing fiction for as long as she can remember, penning her first attempt at a novel aged fourteen. She is a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association and The Society of Authors.

Her debut novel The Girl on the Beach was e-published in January 2017, after she won Choc Lit Publishing Search for a Star competition. The story follows a woman with a troubled past as she tries to unravel the mystery surrounding her son’s headteacher, Harry Dixon. This book is available as a paperback from 10 April 2018.

 

Morton’s second book for Choc Lit The Truth Lies Buried was published as an e-book on 1 May 2018. Another romantic suspense novel, the book tells the story of Jenny Simpson and Carver Rodgers as they uncover secrets from their past.

Morton previously worked in the electricity industry in committee services, staff development and training. She has a Business Studies degree and is a fully qualified clinical hypnotherapist and Reiki Master. She also has diplomas in Tuina acupressure massage and energy field therapy. She enjoys crafts, history and loves tracing family trees. Having a hunger for learning new things is a bonus for the research behind her books.

As Jenny gets to know Carver she begins to unravel the sadness that has led to his chaotic existence. Gradually they realise they have something in common that is impossible to ignore – and it all links back to a meeting at a police station many years before.
