Five Photos … with Carol Warham

  • Post category:Guest Posts

Sharing her five photographs with me today is lovely author Carol Warham. Carol’s debut novel with Tirgearr Publishing came out last year, and it’s gained some great reviews. Since it’s set in Yorkshire, I will be checking that one out myself. 🙂 Here’s Carol with her five photos.

I thought picking out five photos to share with you would be so easy. How wrong I was. I’m sure I’m no different to many people and we have thousands of photos. Some go back decades and are stored in photo albums. Many more recent are stored on phones, tablets or computers.  We try and download each year’s photos onto a disc or discs, as a permanent back-up and keep sakes.

I’m not sure who the memento is for. We rarely go looking at our photos, unless for a specific reason. All the ones we inherited after our parents passed away are still in boxes. One day our daughters will inherit all of these and more. I’m not sure how they’ll feel about that as they will have hundreds, if not thousands, of their own. It’s so easy now to take a photo of a beautiful scene, a lovely place or a family memory.

When I was a child, photos were few and far between, taken on special occasions. The film had to be taken to be developed and, more than likely, half of them would be too poor to keep.
So what have I chosen to share with you? Well, actually, I’ve decided on…ME!
Would you like a nosy at me growing up? You’re honoured, not many people get to see these, or at least haven’t until now!

Here I am aged about 5 years old.

As a young bride, and rather windswept!

Proud first time grandma (He’s now 13!)

Well, there’s no hope really, is there?

Haha! Love them, Carol! Thanks so much for taking part in my Five Photos feature. It’s been a pleasure to look at your lovely pictures.

Carol lives in beautiful Yorkshire, with her husband and Sam the dog. ‘Resolutions’ is her first novel and is based in locations around her home.
Writing has always been a part of her life, as a child she made up comics for dolls and friends. After leaving a college she became a journalist for a short time, and in more recent years has had some short stories, travel articles and poems published.
When not writing she is involved with her two daughters, grandchildren and various organisations in the village where she lives.

Resolutions

A few days before the New Year, Carly Mitchell returns home to the small town on the Yorkshire moors. Her intention for the short visit is to make her apologies and offer an explanation for her action. A year earlier, she fled, leaving her bridegroom and friends bewildered.

She’s met with mixed reactions, ranging from curiosity to open hostility. However, when an emergency arises, Carly agrees to change her plans and stay a little longer. Falling in love with the new local doctor, Ben Thornton, was not part of her original plan either. Especially when it appears his past is shrouded in mystery.

Complications and tensions increase during the town’s New Year celebrations and she begins to doubt whether she has done the right thing by coming home.

Can she find the resolution she needs to overcome the challenges facing her, or will she run away again?
